RFI President John Hearsch has been made a member of the Order of Australia - General Division (AM) in the King's Birthday awards listing on 9th June 2025. The citation was 'For services to the rail industry'.
Commenting on the award, former Secretary of RFI Bill Russell said "Never was an award been more deserved. Your contribution to every aspect of rail from management at the most senior level to heritage and advocacy has been unstinting, visionary, always rational and kind, and hugely influential in shaping and maintaining public interests in transport developments."
